Meet Michael

Michael grew up in the north Raleigh area and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of North Carolina.  Michael received his masters at SEBTS in Wake Forest, but his expertise isn’t just academic; but it’s also experiential and started long before graduate school. Michael leans into a more open therapeutic environment with some self-disclosure, and therefore is not shy about sharing his own significant challenges throughout life, which necessitated personal exposure to a wide range of therapists with varying modalities prior to formal education. This only added to his passion and commitment once his formal and professional education was underway at the seminary; he has found that one key thing about what we believe is foundational and shapes our lives. The way in which we view ourselves, other human beings around us, and life’s greater purpose if we so believe there is one, is everything. And how we fit into that greater story.

Michael’s LMFT program, internships, work, and life experience drove him to   help others trying to make sense out of the senseless. His vision for Streams of Serenity Counseling became reality, dedicating his career to the ones who didn’t make it.  He tries to enjoy every minute of every day, living out of gratitude for all of the therapists who helped light his path. His story is one of redemption, and so he loves a good comeback story. His beautiful wife Summer is a dietician, also dedicated to helping those tormented by mental health issues, more specifically with eating disorders.
